During Day Two of the 2026 IFL Awards event at Supermercator, we extended our festival to a whole weekend for the first time. As well as introducing the work of an exciting new generation of Benelux-based artists to an Amsterdam audience, we also took the opportunity to get to know some of our fabulous filmmakers better. After each screening, a Q&A session offered the chance for audiences to put questions to some of the stars and directors behind the movies.
Now, we are publishing the sessions on YouTube so viewers at home can also enjoy some of the rare insights they offered up.
First, IFL Editor Jack Benjamin – who selected the programme – spoke to director Vadim River van der Vlugt and actor Djinny Johanna Maria Niesten about their work on the mad-cap experimental short Zeevonk. He was then joined on stage by serial filmmaker Sando Heijnen to discuss his latest IFL entry, Nur Getraümt.
Closing the evening in front of a full house, Jack was then joined by Nachtwolken director Nikya Esselink and Narcissus director Marlena Stam to reflect on their productions.
After announcing the winners, he closed the 2026 festival with a short speech, trying to summarise the amazing films audiences had witnessed over the last two days.
