- Short horror movies by six talented directors to be screened at Amsterdam’s Supermercator (Mercatorplein 3H, 1057 BX) from 17:00 on October 24th 2026
- The selection will include Isis Calje’s psychological ghost-story ‘Zij’; Ruwan Heggelman’s gore-soaked examination of folklore ‘Gnomes’; and Junaid Chundrigar and Paco Vink’s animated zombie satire ‘Dooie Boel’
- Partnering with Cinemercator, the shorts will be followed by a mystery feature, unleashed from the team’s vault

Since October 2020, Indy Film Library (IFL) has hosted an annual selection of horror shorts on its website. But following a successful physical debut last year, the showcase is now returning to the big screen.
On October 24th 2026, IFL’s latest Halloween Horror Showcase invites audiences to come to Amsterdam‘s Supermercator, to discover a world of independent art on their own doorstep. With screenings of films across the cinematic spectrum, and Q&As with the artists behind them, the event offers viewers an introduction to a series of diverse and innovative films, showing them in a whole new light.
Tickets will go on sale on September 30th 2026 via the Supermercator website.
Founded as a community space in Amsterdam’s Mercatorplein, in the day, Supermercator provides a store for gifts; but also, a café for coffee and cake; a space to find common ground with strangers, and to debate with your friends. In the evenings, meanwhile, Supermercator serves as a diverse hub for artists: a locale for practice, performance, poetry, workshops, talks, exhibitions and films.
Chief Editor Jack Benjamin said of the news, “Horror is the arena where you find filmmakers are at their most inventive, practically and thematically; delivering biting satire and blood-soaked set-pieces on a micro-budget. Last year we brought our Halloween Horror Showcase to a mostly-live audience for the first time – and I am so excited for our undead programme to return to screens on October 24th!
“While this year’s theme is definitely memento mori, this programme is just as much a celebration of life. That’s the wonderful paradox at the heart of this genre – every jump is a reaffirmation we still have that lust for life.”
Hosted in partnership with Cinemercator – a group of film-lovers who show independent movies at the community hub – the seventh Halloween Horror Showcase will not end with the six short nightmares, either. Following the screenings, Cinemercator will close the event with a surprise curated feature from their shadowy vault.
