Indy Film Library (IFL) is hosting two days of film screenings, celebrating the very best work from artists around the world.
Forming the first part of the organisation’s yearly awards shortlist, a selection of international shorts will kick off the event at Amsterdam’s Filmhuis Cavia, on Saturday May 2nd 2026.
Two programmes of shorts from Benelux-based filmmakers will follow, as the seventh annual event looks to introduce audiences to films which they will not find anywhere else, by filmmakers who represent the future of the film industry in the Netherlands and beyond.
Among the movies featured, cinema lovers will have a chance to witness breath-taking experimental, documentary and narrative shorts. These include May Bresser’s heartfelt coming of age drama Wat we achterlachten; Sando Heijnen’s unnerving experimental thriller Eindewerk; and Lisa Hukker‘s rip-roaring musical documentary Glock ’45: The Movie.
All films come with English subtitles for international viewers.
On the second evening of films, the event will move over to Amsterdam’s Supermercator venue, on Sunday May 3rd – for three more programmes of shorts, and an international documentary film.
After kicking off with Danny Mitchell and Ross Domoney’s Threads of a Revolution – a feature-length documentary about the democratic experiments of a Kurdish community in the Rojava region – the night will close out with a procession of bright new works from the Benelux. Shorts include Luuk Audenaerde’s murderous thriller Nevenschade, and Marlena Stam’s experimental LGBT+ mythology Narcissus.
IFL Chief Editor Jack Benjamin said of the selection, “This announcement seems to get harder every year – we have been overwhelmed by the quality of work we received this season. But whittling down a programme to the very best of the best is exactly the kind of headache we want at Indy Film Library. I am truly excited to introduce these artists to our audiences this May.”
Following the screenings, the winning films of IFL’s 2026 submissions cycle will be announced. Each selection is rated 16+, and all films will show in Dutch or Flemish, with English subtitles.
Tickets are now on sale from April 1st via the IFL website. Tickets for Day 1 are available here, and tickets for Day 2 are available here. Admission will also be available at the door, but attendees should purchase in advance to avoid disappointment.

Indy Film Library (IFL) laat een dag vol screenings zien, ter ere van het beste werk door filmmakers uit de hele wereld.
Het eerste onderdeel van de organisatie jaarlijkse shortlist prijzen, een selectie van internationale shortfilms start het evenement bij Filmhuis Cavia in Amsterdam op Zaterdag 2 mei 2026.
Twee shortfilm programma’s door filmmakers uit de Benelux. Het zevende jaarlijkse festival wilt graag het publiek introduceren met films die je nergens anders kunt zien. Films die de toekomst van Nederlandse en de daarbuiten filmindustrie representeren.
Onderling de getoonde films hebben filmliefhebbers de kans om adembenemende experimentele, documentaires en verhalende shorts te zien. Daarbij zit May Bresser’s oprechte coming of age drama Wat we achterlachten; Sando Heijnen’s zenuwslopende experimentele thriller Eindewerk; en Lisa Hukker‘s spetterende muzikale documentaire Glock ’45: The Movie.
Alle films komen met Engelse ondertiteling voor internationaal publiek.
Op de tweede filmavond verhuist het evenement naar Supermercator in Amsterdam op Zondag 3 mei 2026. Drie nieuwe shortfilm programma’s en een internationale documentaire worden getoond.
We beginnen met Danny Mitchell en Ross Domoney’s Threads of a Revolution – een speelfilm documentaire over de democratische experimenten van een Koerdische gemeenschap in de regio Rojava – De avond sluit met briljant nieuw werk uit de Benelux. Inclusief Luuk Audenaerde’s moorddadige thriller Nevenschade, en Marlena Stam’s experimentele LGBT+ mythologie Narcissus.
IFL hoofdredacteur Jack Benjamin zegt: “ Deze aankondiging lijkt moeilijker elk jaar – we zijn overweldigd door de kwaliteit die we hebben ontvangen. De hoofdpijn die erbij komt kijken om het beste uit te kiezen elke keer is precies wat we willen hier bij Indy Film Library. Ik kan oprecht niet wachten om deze artiesten te introduceren aan ons publiek deze Mei.”
Na de vertoning worden de winnende films van IFL’s 2026 inzendingen aangekondigd. Elke selectie is 16+, en alle films zijn in het Nederlands of Vlaams met Engelse ondertiteling.
Kaartjes zijn verkrijgbaar via de IFL website. Toegang is ook mogelijk bij de deur, maar om teleurstelling te voorkomen word het aangeraden om een kaartje van te voren te kopen.
