Indy Film Library (IFL) is hosting a day of film screenings, celebrating the very best work from filmmakers across Europe, the Netherlands and Belgium.
Forming the final part of the organisation’s yearly awards shortlist*, the movies will be shown at Amsterdam’s Filmhuis Cavia, on Saturday April 19th 2025.
The sixth annual event will allow viewers to engage with films they will not find anywhere else, by filmmakers who represent the future of the film industry across the Benelux region, and around the world. All films come with English subtitles for international viewers.
Among the movies featured, cinema lovers will have a chance to witness breath-taking experimental, documentary and narrative shorts. These include Robin Noorda‘s stunning stop-motion Lunatic; Maarten de Bruijne‘s tense family drama L’Audition de Jeanne; and Sitou Akolly‘s thought-provoking cultural documentary Zāgbéto: Les Murmures du Masque.
IFL Chief Editor Jack Benjamin said of the selection, “This is the hardest time of the year for our festival, but also the most exciting. Picking out which films we showcase becomes more difficult with every season! But it’s the kind of headache I dreamed of having when I founded Indy Film Library back in 2019 – and I’m looking forward to champion this latest crop of amazing artists.”
Following the screenings, the winning films of IFL’s 2025 submissions cycle will be announced. Each selection is rated 16+, and all films will show in Dutch or Flemish, with English subtitles.
Tickets are already on sale via FilmFreeway, and the IFL website. Admission will also be available at the door, but attendees should purchase in advance to avoid disappointment.
On the diversity of new talent on display, Benjamin added, “While there are a couple of familiar faces returning to the selection this year, I’m thrilled to see we have so many new discoveries. Following on from last year’s sell-out final screening – and the fact one of our selected films went on to win an Oscar – it’s a sign that we’re winning the trust of the very best filmmakers this region has to offer. For a glimpse of the bright future of the Dutch film industry, there has never been a better time to join us.”

Indy Film Library (IFL) organiseert een dag vol film screenings, ter ere het allerbeste werk van filmmakers vanuit heel Europa, Nederland en België.
Samen vormen ze de jaarlijkse prijzenlijst van de organisatie*, de films worden vertoond in het Amsterdamse Filmhuis Cavia, op Zaterdag 19 April 2025.
Tijdens het zesde jaarlijkse evenement kan het publiek genieten van films die ze nergens anders kunnen vinden, door filmmakers die de toekomst van de filmindustrie in de Benelux vertegenwoordigen, en ook wereldwijd. Alle films komen met Engelse ondertiteling voor internationale kijkers.
De vertoonde films geven filmliefhebbers de kans om getuige te zijn van adembenemende experimentele, documentaire en verhalende films. Dat bevat Robin Noorda‘s geweldige stop-motion Lunatic; Maarten de Bruijne‘s intense familie drama L’Audition de Jeanne; en Sitou Akolly‘s prikkelende culturele documentaire Zāgbéto: Les Murmures du Masque.
IFL hoofdredacteur Jack Benjamin zegt: “Dit is de moeilijkste tijd van het jaar voor ons festival, maar ook het spannendst. Kiezen welke films we willen tonen word elk jaar moeilijker! Eerlijk gezegd is het de hoofdpijn waar ik over heb gedroomd toen ik Indy Film Library heb opgestart in 2019. Ik kijk er naar uit om de nieuwste fantastische artiesten te promoten.”
Na de vertoning worden de winnende films van IFL’s 2025 inzendingen aangekondigd. Elke selectie is 16+, en alle films zijn in het Nederlands of Vlaams met Engelse ondertiteling.
Kaartjes staan al te koop via FilmFreeway, en de IFL website. Toegang is ook mogelijk aan de deur, maar het wordt aangeraden een kaartje vooraf te kopen om teleurstelling te voorkomen.
Over de diversiteit aan nieuw talent dat wordt getoond, voegde Benjamin toe: “Hoewel er dit jaar een paar bekende gezichten terugkeren, ben ik blij om te zien dat we zoveel nieuwe ontdekkingen hebben. Na de uitverkochte finalevertoning van vorig jaar en het feit dat één van onze geselecteerde films een Oscar won, is dat een teken dat we het vertrouwen winnen van de allerbeste filmmakers die deze regio te bieden heeft. Voor een kijkje in de mooie toekomst van de Nederlandse filmindustrie is er nooit een beter moment geweest om bij ons aan te sluiten.”
