Indy Film Library (IFL) has announced its fifth annual Student Short Showcase – an online film festival demonstrating the fearsome talent among student filmmakers.
Starting from 09:00 CET on Monday 11th December 2024, the IFL will be streaming a selection of six student short films. Lasting for two weeks, the screenings will take place for free, via the IFL website.
IFL Chief Editor Jack Benjamin commented, “Since our last Student Short Showcase, IFL has continued to receive amazing student films from around the world. This year, the films are filled with stories of self-discovery and growth – a fitting message to convey at the turn of the year. I hope this selection of our six finest student films gives IFL audiences a happy close to 2024 – as well as a hopeful glimpse into a brighter future, where these young artists will be thriving.”
Films have been selected on the basis of both their storytelling and the technical skills exhibited by their cast and crew, in a celebration of the often-under-appreciated world of student cinema. At the end of the showcase, awards for Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Film and Best Director will be announced. Meanwhile, viewers will also have the opportunity to select the winner of the Audience Choice Award.
