IFL to close 2023 with showcase of student cinema

  • Nominees for fourth annual Indy Film Library Student Short Showcase announced
  • Indy Film Library website to screen all six films free of charge for two weeks
  • Films screened from 09:00 CET December 11th 2023 include electronic music video Trance Action Delivery and migrant drama Blue Coast

Indy Film Library (IFL) has announced its fourth annual Student Short Showcase – an online film festival demonstrating the fearsome talent among student filmmakers.

Starting from 09:00 CET on Monday 11th December 2023, the IFL will be streaming a selection of six student short films. Lasting for two weeks, the screenings will take place for free, via the IFL website.

IFL Chief Editor Jack Benjamin commented, “Since our last Student Short Showcase, IFL has continued to receive amazing student films from around the world. As well as giving us reasons to be cheerful, many of these movies also feature themes of self-reflection and growth – a fitting message to convey at the turn of the year. I hope this selection of our six finest student films gives IFL audiences a happy close to 2023 – as well as a hopeful glimpse into a brighter future, where these young artists will be thriving.”

Films have been selected on the basis of both their storytelling and the technical skills exhibited by their cast and crew, in a celebration of the often-under-appreciated world of student cinema. At the end of the showcase, awards for Best ScreenplayBest CinematographyBest Film and Best Director will be announced. Meanwhile, viewers will also have the opportunity to select the winner of the Audience Choice Award.
